DESCRIPTION:"Green Lunch"On Sunday\, March 15th\, the First Congregational United Church of Christ Green Team will be privileged to welcome Kent Taylor as speaker for out first "Green Lunch".  Our meal\, beginning around 11:30 a.m.\, will be "green" in two ways.  First\, we will not use disposable dishes or plasticware\; we will be eating on real dishes and use real silverware.  You are invited to bring your own coffee mug if you like.  Secondly\, we will be eating healthy dishes that include many of our wonderful green foods (ex: spinach\, asparagus\, green beans\, peas\, broccoli).  Some will include meat for our carnivores.  An optional donation will be collected. Our speaker\, Mr. Taylor\, has been a volunteer diver and presenter at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium for over 20 years.  He has been lecturing on coral reef ecology from inside their Coral Reef Exhibit on weekends.  Recently he was selected to join Al Gore and his staff in Nashville to be trained and authorized in the showing of Mr. Gore's famous slide presentation on Global warming. After lunch\, around noon\, Kent will present a slightly shortened version of the same slide show as seen in the movie "An Inconvenient Truth".  He has customized his show for this audience and added new slides that reveal some new data and explore areas of personal interest to Mr. Taylor\; namely the coral reefs. After his presentation\, we're going to open the floor to questions and comments while we discuss simple things we can do as individuals in our homes and also in our communities to lower our collective carbon footprint as we begin to address our climate crisis with action. All ages are welcome!  Child care will be provided for children under the age of seven.  Call the church at (630) 832-2580 for lunch or child care reservations.  Feel free to come at noon for just the presentation if preferred.
