DESCRIPTION:In a 24-hour blitz that will include nationwide\ncommunications\, the Elmhurst-based York Radio Club\nwill operate at least three radio stations from the\nElmhurst Fire Department Training Facility\, 910 N.\nAddison\, on Saturday and Sunday\, June 27-28.\n\nThe operation will be part of Amateur Radio Field Day\,\nan annual contest started in 1933 that is designed to\ntest emergency preparedness. In past years\, more than\n30\,000 Amateur Radio operators in the United States\nand Canada have taken part.\n\nVisitors interested in learning more about the ham\nradio hobby\, or those who are simply curious\, are\nwelcome. The operation will include a small solar\npower demonstration\, as well as digital technology\nthat combines computers with ham radios.
