SUMMARY:National Art Premiere at Elmhurst Artists' Guild Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Annual juried exhibit (through March 30\, 2011) featuring contemporary works by artists from 14 states and Canada. Artwork was juried and awards conferred by artist and art professor\, Peggy Dee\, who teaches painting and drawing at Northern Illinois University and Elgin Community College.\n\n\n\nOne of the exhibit standouts is Rob Millard-Mendez\, Icarus Chair\, a sculpture featuring an anthropomorphic winged chair mounted on a base adorned with labyrinthine patterns and human ears. Paintings by Jenny Knavel open a window to a world where chicken-headed people go about their business in a subdued\, matter of fact manner. "The Lesson\," features a rooster-headed geometry professor drawing his lesson on a blackboard\, his glassy stare probably matching that of his students.\n\n\n\nHours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday\, Wednesday\, Thursday and Saturday\; 10-8 p.m. Friday. Sales of artwork benefit the artists\, the Elmhurst Artists Guild and the Elmhurst Art Museum.
