All residents of DuPage County are encouraged to join their neighbors in "Live the Dream," the Annual Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday, at 6:30 PM, Monday, January 19, 2015, at Hammerschmidt Chapel on the campus of Elmhurst College, 190 Prospect Avenue, in Elmhurst.

The Annual Event welcomes people of all races, faith traditions, ethnic backgrounds and economic classes, along with public, educational, business and religious leaders, to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on this national holiday. The MLK Celebration Planning Committee expects a record crowd of people to participate in this year's celebration.

This year we commemorate the 25th annual (and oldest public) celebration of the life and ministry of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in DuPage County. In past years the celebration was held in Wheaton and this year for the fourth time we are thrilled to return to Hammerschmidt Chapel at Elmhurst College where Dr. King spoke in 1966. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Darlene Ruscitti, who will begin her 4th term as Regional Superintendent of Schools for DuPage County on July 1, 2015. Professionally, Dr Ruscitti has been a school board member, teacher, higher education adjunct faculty member, education administrator, professional development director, and assistant regional superintendent of schools for DuPage. She has earned her doctorate of education from Loyola University, undergraduate work and graduate at Northeastern Illinois University. Amongst her civic responsibilities, she is Vice President of the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents, Vice-President of the DuPage Area Project, a member of the Illinois PK-20 Council subcommittees, Honorary Board Member of DuPage United Way, Family Shelter and NAMI Board Member, League of Women Voters, AAUW, and others.

The evening will include prayer, the glorious singing of the Second Baptist Church Mass Choir and DuPage AME Church Choir.
