Elmhurst Choral Union & Orchestra: Liszt & Schubert
Elmhurst Choral Union and Orchestra present sacred music by Liszt and Schubert, composers best known for other kinds of music. The superstar piano virtuoso of his day, Liszt wrote many piano pieces to show off his playing, and works for orchestra. Later in life, he wrote sacred music, including his heartfelt Coronation Mass, written for the Hungarian Coronation of an Austrian emperor and empress. During his short life, Schubert was known for composing songs, piano pieces, and symphonies. His charming Mass in G is his best-known music for chorus and orchestra. Director Scott Uddenberg leads Elmhurst Choral Union, pro soloists, and a professional orchestra.
