Voices Across the Divide is a powerful documentary and oral history project that explores the Israeli/Palestinian conflict through rarely heard personal stories. The film was directed and co-produced by Alice Rothchild, a physician, professor of medicine and American Jew raised on the tragedies of the Holocaust and the dream of Israel as the Jewish homeland. The film follows her personal journey of self-discovery as she begins to explore the Palestinians’ experiences of loss, occupation, statelessness and immigration.
Dr. Rothchild will show Voices Across the Divide on Thursday, October 13, at Elmhurst College. After the screening, she will answer questions and discuss the film. The screening begins at 7:30 p.m. in Illinois Hall, in the Schaible Science Center (190 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst, www.elmhurst.edu/campusmap). Admission is free and the public is invited. This event is sponsored by the Elmhurst College Department of Religious Studies, the Niebuhr Center for Engagement and Reflection and the Office of the Chaplain.
