Manufacturing Night - York High School
Bringing it back! York High School is hosting a Manufacturing Night to celebrate the return of manufacturing courses to the school. Please consider joining us on Tuesday, October 30th at 7 p.m. to learn more about our new Manufacturing Lab and curriculum that we will begin to offer out students in 2019-2020.
During the evening, we will be explaining our vision for manufacturing council that will be comprised of industry partners, community members and school personnel. We are looking for active participants to help support the growth and development of our students' workforce skills through internships, mock interviews, and summer employment in addition to sharing best practices within their field.
We have just completed a renovation of our Manufacturing Lab. The improvements included non slip flooring, new lighting, power buses for future equipment, additional windows for supervision purposes, and installation of doors to allow for machine placement within the lab.
We have successfully partnered with the District 205 Foundation through an $80,000 grant for the purchases of 3 manual mills and 3 manual lathes. Our goal in the next 3 years is to have our lab outfitted with 6 manual mills, 6 manual lathers, 2 CNC mills, and 2 CNC lathes. We hope to reach this goal through various partnerships and grants.
