Monthly Art@York Art Film
The new Art@York program continues on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, with a screening of the romance “Little England,” presented in Greek with English subtitles. The York Theatre is located at 150 N. York Street in downtown Elmhurst. The film will be shown at 1 and 7 PM. Admission is $6.50 matinee and $9 evening per person; seniors are $5 for the matinee. Be sure to arrive early for the matinee to enjoy the preshow entertainment showcasing a performance on the Barton Theatre organ by Dave Rhodes, the house organist at the Classic Cinemas’ Tivoli Theatre in Downers Grove.
“Little England” (R/132 min) is a 2013 film based on the novel of the same name. The plot revolves around two sisters, Orsa and Moscha, from the island of Andros, dubbed Little England because of its affluence, who are both in love with sea captain Spyros. The film achieved commercial success in Greece and was nominated for 13 Hellenic Film Academy Awards and won six, including the Award for Best Film.
In response to many requests for more art-related films at the York Theatre, Classic Cinemas recently introduced the new program, Art@York, which features movies primarily focused on the visual arts on the second Wednesday of every month.
