Motivational Speaker Candace Doby to Discuss Travel, Being Black and Doubt on Nov. 14
Candace Doby didn’t begin traveling internationally until she was 27, out of fear of physical harm, rejection from people at home and abroad, and failure. A motivational speaker and marketing executive at Chipotle Mexican Grill, Doby eventually found the tools to help her manage her fear, and has since traveled to 14 countries.
As part of International Education Week, Doby will present Travel, Being Black & Doubt on Nov. 14. Using her perspective as a black woman navigating race and power, she will share her thoughts on engaging people of color to go abroad. Doby has been exploring courage—what it means, what it looks like, and what can thwart it—for a decade. During her talk at Elmhurst, Doby will share what she has learned as it applies to fear and international travel, and also will talk about how travel can serve as a tool for a more robust career. This event is co-sponsored by the Elmhurst College Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Phi Beta Delta, International Education, CO-OP and student activity fees.
