This 5K benefits the Elmhurst Food Pantry and other local food pantries, with all runners' fees going to feed the hungry in DuPage County. The course is USATF certified and winds through the tree-lined streets of south Elmhurst. The first 400 pre-registered participants receive a custom-designed T-shirt, a "goody bag" and post-race refreshments. There are raffle prizes as well. Unique awards for both men and women will be given out in 10 age categories. Following the 5K at 8:45 a.m. there will be a "Kid’s ½ mile Fun Run" with each participant receiving a T-shirt and Ribbon. Participation averages 300 runners and walkers. Participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation with them on race day for the Elmhurst Food Pantry.
