Syed Atif Rizwan is an assistant professor of Islamic and interreligious studies whose academic interests are the intersection of law and ethics, morality of law, and Islamic criminal laws and philosophies about punishment. On Nov. 5, Rizwan will present Divine Commands, Human Input: Shari’a as Sacred Law in Action, this year’s al-Ghazali lecture at Elmhurst College.
Professor Rizwan teaches Islamic and interreligious studies, and also serves as the associate director of the Catholic-Muslim Studies Program, at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.
The al-Ghazali lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center (190 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst, elmhurst.edu/campusmap). Admission is free and all are welcome. For more information, call (630) 617-5186 or visit elmhurst.edu/cultural.
