Scout-O-Rama 2008
Local Boy Scouts from the Three Fires Council are gearing up for the annual Scout-O-Rama event, scheduled for May 10 at Cantigny Park in Wheaton. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. With Boy Scouts of America planning a centennial celebration for 2010, the theme for this year's Scout-O-Rama is "Scouting through History - A Century of Service." Highlights include an opening ceremony featuring paratroopers landing with the American flag (weather permitting), a 25-foot-high climbing wall, geocaching and the Radio Disney Patrol. Tickets are $4 and offer added value through coupon offers from Burger King, Colonial Cafe, Dick's Sporting Goods and Oberweis Dairy. Additional parking will be available at the corporate headquarters of Navistar, 4201 Winfield Road, Warrenville. The Three Fires Council serves Scouts from six counties: DuPage, Kane, Kendall, DeKalb, and parts of Will and Cook. More than 4.6 million youths participate in Scouting. Contact the Three Fires Council, BSA at 630-584-9250 or visit www.threefirescouncil.org for more information or to purchase tickets.
