''Slicks 'n Sticks'' Art of Gordon & Jacqueline France
The Elmhurst Artists’ Guild ("EAG") is hosting Slicks 'n Sticks, an exhibition of new cityscapes and countryscapes in watercolor and oil by LaGrange artists, Gordon and Jacqueline France. The show runs from April 18 through May 28, 2010. The artists’ reception, open to the public, will be held Thursday, April 22, from 7 to 9 pm. Those who attend can meet the artists and learn more about their work.
Gordon and Jacqueline, both graduates of the School of the Art Institute, had successful careers before becoming professional painters. Jacqueline’s art career began as an art occupational therapist and antiques dealer until that fateful trip to a landscape painting workshop in Tuscany triggered the passion to paint. Jacqueline’s landscape paintings are heavily influenced by French Impressionists.
Gordon’s careers have taken him from ad agency creative director to award-winning painter. His painting, "Breakfast Club" was featured on the cover of the 2010 Winter issue of American Artist Watercolor Magazine. Gordon has also been a featured artist on WGN-TV, WMAQ-TV and the Chicago Tribune. "My interest is in painting an activity that gets the viewer involved both visually and emotionally. I prefer to suggest passages and let the viewer’s eye do the work rather than paint details," Gordon commented in describing his urban and sports themed paintings.
