In 1880, George Pullman began to build the first planned industrial community in the U.S. to house workers of Pullman's Palace Car Company. Architect and urban planner Michael Shymanski, AIA, a Pullman resident and founding member of Historic Pullman Foundation, will compare and contrast Pullman’s model town plan with Daniel Burnham’s 1909 Plan of Chicago.
