"The Laramie Project" by GreenMan Theatre

GreenMan Theatre's Showcase Presentation of The Laramie Project by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project will open with the first show of a seven performance only run on Friday April 4 at 7:30 PM. This powerful drama draws on hundreds of interviews conducted in the aftermath of the 1998 murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. Due to the serious nature of the material, GreenMan will hold a discussion with the directors and cast members for audiences after every performance.
Tickets are now on sale, and due to the limited run of this production, it is advisable to reserve tickets sooner rather than later. Patrons may reserve tickets by calling 630-464-2646 or atwww.greenmantheatre.com. Performances for the run will be on Friday April 4 at 7:30 PM, Saturday April 5 at 7:30 PM, Sunday April 6 at 2 PM, Thursday April 10 at 7:30 PM, Friday April 11 at 7:30 PM, Saturday April 12 at 7:30 PM, and Sunday April 13 at 2 PM. Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for seniors/students. For groups of ten or more who reserve together through the box office number, each ticket will be discounted by $2. All performances will take place at Asbury Hall at First United Methodist Church at 232 S. York in Elmhurst. Free parking is available. GreenMan Theatre Artistic Director David Soria directs the production with assistance from Katie Soria. Eight local actors will play more than 60 characters in a series of short scenes. The cast of this production includes Ben Armstrong, Valerie Meachum, Kate Mirsky, Duard Mosley, Cheryl Rice, Eric Scanlan, Lauren Scanlan, and Frank Warpeha. GreenMan Theatre Troupe is a non-profit 501[c]3 organization whose mission is to provide a source of cultural enrichment and pride for the community by presenting diverse, quality productions and providing opportunities for personal growth in the theatrical arts. GreenMan has been presenting plays in Elmhurst since being founded in 2003 by Jill Perez, David Soria, and Carole Thorpe. Past productions include ?Doubtful Abbey,? ?Lucky Stiff,? and ?Dracula.? GreenMan also offers classes and workshops for members and the community and welcomes new members and participants in all aspects of theatre production.GreenMan programs are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. Financial support provided by the City of Elmhurst Community Grant Program.
