"YOU CAN?T TAKE IT WITH YOU" OPENS NOVEMBER 12 AT THE MILL THEATRE
"You Can't Take It With You" introduces us to the Sycamore family, a happily eccentric gang of snake collectors, cunning revolutionaries, ballet dancers and skyrocket makers. But when the youngest daughter brings her fiancée and his buttoned-up parents over for dinner, that's when the real fireworks start!
Originally performed in 1936 on Broadway, "You Can't Take It With You" is a comedic play for the ages and continues to be revived in productions across the globe. Written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, the play received a Pulitzer Prize in 1937 and was adapted into a 1938 film starring Lionel Barrymore and James Stuart, and directed by Frank Capra.
"You Can't Take It With You," directed by Brian Wakefield, will be performed Thursday, November 12, through Saturday, November 14, as well as Thursday, November 19, through Saturday, November 21, at 8:00 p.m. in the Mill Theatre (253 Walter St., Elmhurst, www.elmhurst.edu/campusmap). There will be a Sunday performance at 2:00 p.m. on November 22. General admission is $7, students are $5, and senior citizens, Elmhurst faculty and staff are $6.
