Recently renamed Endeavor Health, Edward-Elmhurst Heath and NorthShore University HealthSystem merged in 2021 to form the state's third largest health system, with 25,000 employees and 6,000 physicians serving more than 4,2 million residents in DuPage County and across five other northeast Illinois counties at nine hospitals and more than 30 ambulatory locations. Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare was created in 2013 when Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital merged to become one of the larger integrated health systems in Illinois.
